Barite, whose core component is barium sulfate (BaSO₄), is an important non-renewable non-metallic mineral raw material. As the core carrier of barium element, its properties of high specific gravity, low abrasion and strong chemical stability enable it to play a vital role in multiple key fields.
As a major global country with mineral resources, Morocco’s barite is its second core mineral after phosphate. It has significant advantages in terms of reserve scale, quality grade, production status and industrial potential, making it one of the key suppliers in the global barite market.
Morocco is the world's third-largest barite producer, with a mine output of 1.3 million tons in 2022, and its production has remained stable for a long time. The core advantage of Morocco's barite lies in its high-purity quality. Geochemical analysis of barite in the Nador region shows that the content of barium sulfate (the core effective component of barite) is extremely high, demonstrating an excellent grade level. This quality feature enables it to have strong market competitiveness in downstream fields with strict requirements for raw material purity (such as oil drilling, high-end coatings, etc.), making it an important source of high-quality barite in the world.
The application fields of Morocco's barite are highly aligned with global mainstream demand, mainly covering industries such as oil drilling (as a weighting agent for drilling mud), coatings and paints, papermaking, chemical engineering, plastics, ceramics, glass, and rubber. With the steady advancement of global oil and gas exploration and development activities, and the growing demand for high-quality fillers in the industrial materials sector, the market demand for Morocco's barite is expected to remain stable, and its importance in the global barite supply chain will be further highlighted.
Nowadays, barite is shifting from a traditional advantageous resource to a scarce strategic resource. How to tap into its in-depth value through precise grinding has become the core for the industry to break through development bottlenecks. With customized solutions, Zenith grinding equipment is emerging as a key driver to unlock the potential of barite resources.
The customer is a large-scale barite grinding enterprise in Morocco. Combining the unique properties of barite, Zenith's professional technical team has created a comprehensive grinding equipment solution for it, which integrates both innovative features and practical value.
Since the official commissioning of this production line, the customer has successfully achieved independent and controllable production of high-performance barite powder, with remarkably prominent comprehensive benefits. The product quality far exceeds industry standards, and it has performed excellently in high-temperature and high-pressure well scenarios, significantly improving the safety of drilling operations. Meanwhile, the optimization of the powder-making process has not only reduced production costs but also enhanced the stability of the supply chain. Coupled with the support of the intelligent production system, the production efficiency of barite powder has been comprehensively improved, helping the cooperative enterprise build stronger market competitiveness.
Processed Material: Barite
Application: Weighting Agent for Oil Drilling Mud
Equipment: MTW European Trapezium Grinding Mill
MTW European Trapezium Grinding Mill: A Powerful Tool for Barite Grinding
Zenith MTW European Trapezium Grinding Mill meets the high-standard requirements of barite powder processing and boasts multiple core advantages. Adopting innovative grinding technology, it has achieved breakthroughs in various aspects, including the transmission system, lubrication system, air duct design, roller and ring structure, finished product particle size control and powder selection system, air inlet volute design, and intelligent control system. It truly realizes efficient, stable, energy-saving, and intelligent powder processing, making it an ideal equipment for barite powder production.
First, the barite raw material is uniformly conveyed to the crusher by the vibrating feeder. The crushed material is then sent to the MTW European Trapezium Grinding Mill for grinding via the elevator. During the grinding process, hot air generated by the hot air furnace enters the mill to dry the material.
After grinding, the material is classified by the powder separator along with the system airflow. Fine powder that meets the particle size requirement is collected by the pulse dust collector, and then sent to the finished product silo through the air chute and elevator. Coarse powder that fails to meet the requirement is returned to the MTW European Trapezium Grinding Mill for re-grinding, forming a closed-circuit cycle to ensure the product particle size meets the standard.
In the future, Zenith will continue to deepen its R&D in grinding equipment, use more suitable solutions to solve the challenges in barite resource processing, and accompany more enterprises to move steadily and far on the path of industrial upgrading, painting a new picture of high-quality grinding industrial development!
