Overview of Coal

Coal is known as the "black gold" and the "food of industry". It has been one of the main energy sources used by humanity since the 18th century. Although the value of coal has declined significantly since the 21st century, it remains an indispensable energy source for human production and daily life for a long period of time. The supply of coal is also crucial to the stable development of China's industry and even all aspects of society. The security of coal supply is one of the most important links in China's energy security.

Coal is the most widely distributed fossil energy resource in the world, mainly divided into four categories: bituminous coal, anthracite, sub-bituminous coal, and lignite. 60% of the world's recoverable coal reserves are concentrated in the United States (25%), the former Soviet republics (23%), and China (12%). In addition, four countries—Australia, India, Germany, and South Africa—account for 29% together. The above seven countries or regions account for 80% of the world's total coal production. The proven coal reserves are more than 63 times the oil reserves. Countries with abundant coal reserves in the world are also major coal producers.

Customized pulverized coal preparation system

Shanghai Zenith designs efficient pulverized coal preparation production process system, including raw coal pre-homogenization system, raw coal conveying system, coal powder grinding process system, hot air system, safety and explosion-proof system, etc.

Raw coal pre-homogenization

After the raw coal is unloaded into the coal storage yard, it is pre-homogenized by a bulldozer through layered stacking in the yard.

Raw coal conveying

The raw coal is fed into the raw coal bunker for buffering through equipment such as underground transfer bins, and then metered by a plug rod valve and a weigh-feeder.

Powder grinding process system

The raw coal enters the mill from the raw coal bunker via a weigh-feeder, and hot air enters the mill simultaneously. The material moves on the grinding table, and flows out of the mill with the air flow.

Pulverized coal conveying

According to the characteristics of pulverized coal, the design adopts dense-phase pneumatic conveying for pulverized coal transportation — using silo pump pneumatic conveying with nitrogen (N₂), which features low energy consumption and safety.

Hot air system

The professionally equipped hot air system uses pulverized coal as fuel, with high thermal efficiency and low operation and management costs, effectively meeting customers' requirements.

Safety and Ex system

Adopts a CO-O₂ online gas analysis system and a CO₂ automatic dilution fire extinguishing system, as well as an explosion-proof high-concentration bag dust collector specially designed for coal grinding.

Process Flow of LM vertical coal mill

Raw coal is screened and dedusted, then conveyed to the raw coal bunker for storage. After the system starts, the coal is fed into LM vertical coal mill by a coal feeder, where it is dried and ground with hot air introduced from a hot air furnace. The coal powder is separated by a classifier along with the airflow: coarse powder returns to the mill for re-grinding, while fine powder is collected by an explosion-proof dust collector and stored in the bin. Impurities are discharged through the air ring. The entire process is equipped with online CO-O2 monitoring. When preparing high-volatile coal powder, a nitrogen protection system and CO2 fire extinguishing system are activated in interlock control to ensure safe production.

Integrates crushing, grinding, drying, powder selection, and conveying. The floor area is about 50% of that of a ball mill system, and it can be arranged outdoors, featuring high investment cost-performance.

Special grinding roller and table design:

The special structure design of grinding roller and table ensures high grinding efficiency. The finished product has uniform particle size distribution, good quality, excellent fluidity, and high activity.

High degree of automation for labor saving:

Adopts an automatic control system, enabling remote operation, interlocking protection, reliable operation, and simple operation, which further saves labor costs.

Thin oil lubrication for convenient maintenance:

The grinding roller adopts forced thin oil lubrication and is equipped with a hydraulic roll-over device. During maintenance, the grinding roller can be rolled out of the mill by the hydraulic device without disassembly, which is convenient and quick.

Hot air drying with strong adaptability:

Hot air can be used to transport materials, drying materials with a moisture content of up to 15% when entering the mill, and the moisture content of the material leaving the mill is < 1%.

Safe and explosion-proof, in line with national standards:

The whole system is sealed and works under negative pressure, with no dust overflow. It is equipped with a five-level explosion-proof system, CO-O₂ online gas analysis, and a CO₂ automatic dilution fire extinguishing system.
